Job Description:

This resource will work with other members of the overall India database architecture team to establish standard practices in the India development centers.

The App Architecture resource will not only be accountable for architecting and designing applications and for reviewing application designs, but also that these designs are consistent with application standards and meet the business needs of the initiative. The resource will work with application teams during the development lifecycle to gather application requirements, learn the application process flow, and understand the application integration in the enterprise to design and document application architecture and data models. The resource will work with application teams to design and review application data access calls to ensure economical and efficient queries are put into production.

The resource will be involved in multiple projects on an ad-hoc basis within CIO to help with issues related on Microsoft .Net, ASP.Net, .Net performance tuning, Advanced .Net debugging, SQL server performance tuning, SQL server disaster recovery, SQL server administration, SQL server High Availability, SQL server 2000 to 2005 upgrade, SQL server Reporting services, SQL server Integration Services using Windows Debugger tools. He will assist in Design and Code reviews to ensure that projects meet the standards.

The resource will also train and mentor junior data architect on Microsoft .NET and SQL Server related technologies either on a 1:1 or in a classroom setting, and monitor and train them on different techniques available for performance tuning, debugging, etc.

The resource will identify opportunities for reuse, and assist in the creation of reusable architectural assets for the CIO organization.

Responsibilities:

Gather requirements, learn application process flows, and understand how applications should integrate with other applications in the enterprise
Performance tuning of applications and database SQL queries, and suggest methods for improving the throughput of applications.
Assist application teams in the design of efficient OO design with appropriate separation of tiers for presentation, business logic and persistence.
Conduct workshops and trainings and mentor junior data architect on Microsoft .NET and SQL Server related technologies either on a 1:1 or in a classroom setting, and monitor and train them on different techniques available for performance tuning, debugging, etc.
Assist in the implementation of Protypes/Samples/Proof of Concepts
Deliver standard, efficient data storage to client teams
Design and document conceptual and logical data models
Partner with and engage the Enterprise Data Model Team as necessary to ensure new development projects design and implement solutions that correctly utilize Enterprise Class data
Partner with and engage the Integration Architecture Team as necessary to ensure new development projects design and implement solutions that correctly utilize our Integration Architecture
Review database access calls for slow performing applications in production, when necessary, and provide recommendations to improve performance
Work in a global environment – collaborate and exchange ideas with team members who work in US, Spain, the Philippines, India, and Argentina
